Recovering from Chronic fatigue – how long before your body gets back to normal ?

Let’s say you had chronic fatigue caused by a bacterial infection.
You take antibiotics and become a-symptomatic.

How long before your body fully recovers its full strength?
(six months, a year, two?)

I am not a doctor nor have any medical training but I have led many support groups and have online contact with hundreds of CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome) survivors.

Each person’s body is different.

However, one must understand the virus before you can decide what the final outcome is. The Herpes Viruses, including those annoying fever blisters and chickenpox along with many others never leave your body. They go in and take up residence there and the usual viral episode is one week. But they never leave. Take chickenpox for example. The nerve endings can feel like they are exploding from an episode of Shingles which comes from the childhood chickenpox that resides in your body. Herpes 1 is very dangerous because it can appear in your eyes or on your lips and is highly contagious when it does. Most people by the age of 12 have that virus. It is a known fact that CFIDS survivors harbor many herpes viral strains.

Sometimes the issue is bacterial. Of course, like you, the most important thing to do is rid yourself of the bacteria with antibiotics. But they don’t really leave either. Forget what you read ! Take H. Pylori Bacteria for example in the stomach. For years and years they decided if you had a stomach ulcer it was from stress. Oh you are over stressed. Don’t you just love it. Then some really smart guy found out that H. Pylori Bacteria in the stomach which resides in there hiding was responsible for 85% of those ulcers. Who knows is some stress brings them out to play but they are found in almost all CFIDS survivors.

Lyme Disease is another perfect example. Borrelia is transmitted to humans from the bite of a tick. Those bacteria are there to stay…. or have left their mark on your body. Lyme Disease survivors have CFIDS.

Its no longer about one thing. It’s not about the one bacteria that got you… its about the package that now lives inside your body and how you can keep it chilled !

That said, you have to work around the bacteria and viral impact on your body. You have to strengthen the components that are weak and bring yourself back to a level of normal. I get very upset when I hear people say I tried this and I tried that. What a waste of time and money. Your body is a machine… a computer if you will…. and it has to have the right recipe in order to be a human functioning organism. The bacterial and viral episodes drain it of many things.

First, read… read everything you can on CFIDS and if you have pain read Fibromyalgia…. they go hand in hand. Watch You Tube and see the research they have come up with that explains what is happening since the virus or bacteria entered your body.

Take notes on what works for others on forums and in research and begin taking the dosages recommended. My first line if defense if pancreatic enzymes, then CoQ10 Ubiquinol based. Check out Dr. Mercola website for that … he explains it well in a video. Next, I must have B12 and I do that in the form of Methocobalamine because it misses a body step that we have a hard time making. With that I take folicin, a form of folic acid.

I study genetics, I do this as a hobby but I sure have learned a lot. I will tell you that I am 100% positive that you did not get CFIDS from that bacteria because you just caught it. You were already genetically set up for the mess and therefore to me, those genetics have to be addressed as well.

I take SAM e which helps my body work, read about it online. I also take Collagen Hydrolysate which helps me with that fatigue and strengthens my collagen and connective tissues.

Your liver is not a happy trooper. Its suppose to filter out these things but it does not have the ability to do so. I take Milk Thistle to help my liver and sprinkle dill on my salads and green foods.

Exercise , mild exercise, keeps you moving and though it will increase the fatigue you will become worse if you don’t try some simple short exercises throughout the day.

Read every new research article that comes out…. they are finally beginning to understand why this happens in our bodies.

I am so sorry you have been ill and have “left overs” to deal with. Without proper care because these things do not leave your body… its a life time battle… but you can put it under some control by studying.
